Family secrets. Lost memories. And the arrival of an ancient magical ability that will reveal everything.
Sixteen-year-old Katla LeBlanc has just moved from Los Angeles to Minnesota. As if it weren’t enough that her trendy fashion sense draws stares, Katla soon finds out that she’s a Stork, a member of a mysterious order of women tasked with a very unique duty. But Katla’s biggest challenge may be finding her flock at a new school. Between being ignored by Wade, the arrogant jock she stupidly fooled around with, and constantly arguing with gorgeous farm boy and editor-in-chief Jack, Katla is relieved when her assignment as the school paper’s fashion columnist brings with it some much-needed friendship. But as Homecoming approaches, Katla uncovers a shocking secret about her past — a secret that binds her fate to Jack’s in a way neither could have ever anticipated. With a nod to Hans Christian Andersen and inspired by Norse lore, Wendy Delsol’s debut novel introduces a hip and witty heroine who finds herself tail-feathers deep in small-town life.

My Thoughts...
This was definitely different. I haven't done much with Norse mythology. A little look many years ago when I was in high school, and I watched Thor (that has to count...right?) But this was amazing, rich, full of myth and legend, and all wrapped up with great story telling. I loved the characters, Kat embraced her powers and responsibilities. She never tried to run from them or deny them, which I loved. Jack, at first I couldn't understand what his problem was but as the story went on I understood his reactions, and as he softened we saw what a great character he really is. I got to the end thinking I knew what was coming, but I was quite surprised. I'm glad it didn't go down the way I thought it would. I do hope we see more of Kat's role as a Stork in the next book, I found that part of the story to be awesome. I loved ever word of this story and can't wait to start the next book and get back into this awesome world. I give this one 5 stars and many glowing recommendations.

  1. I'm a fan of this series as well. Love the sweet relationship that develops between Jack and Katla and the Norse myth is cool and refreshingly different than what's in YA these days.
